the new new balance

not your dad’s shoe company any more

They came on to the seen many years ago with that iconic grey shoe you see above. Embraced by athletes everywhere as a no-frills shoe that got the job done and was built in America to last – New Balance was an instant classic. Still to this day one of the most successful running shoe brands, NB has expanded into apparel and all sorts of sport and active wear related products. Until recently their expansion in my opinion has been typical and not altogether exciting. Their clothes and products for the most part have been of great quality but have mimicked that of their competitors. NB hasn’t exactly been blazing trails as of late – that is until now.

In an effort to get back to the basics, New Balance has been expanding the sponsorship relationships with elite runners and athletes and has truly been taking their athletes to the lab in developing the types of products that stand above the competition and enable those that wear them to reach their full potential. Probably their biggest breakthrough is the development of their Minimus Trail line featuring a vibram outsole that has a light weight mesh like feel to it that is comfortable both with or without socks for all terrain. The active all terrain midsole is also super light weight and flexible and has only a 4mm drop from toe to heal (less than a 1/3rd of the traditional running shoe). Not only is this shoe the perfect running shoe for those who want to get as close to the barefoot feel as they can without wearing those ridiculous finger-shoe things, but they also look as cool as the concept. At $105.00 this tech style breakthrough can be yours too. Get them HERE.
